I am about a fourth of my way through the actual book. It’s not easy juggling all the hats but I’m taking it one day at a time and just keeping lots of lists around. Taking responsibility for everything in the process does feel incredibly taxing but I can also see that through my efforts the book is coming together very rapidly.
I’m also preparing a Xeric Grant application that I was almost ready to disregard. There are a few realities that were making me hesitant to apply but I figured, winners never looked at the odds and backed away from the game just because they didn’t think they could win. (Did I seriously just make a sports metaphor?*)
My first graphic novel did not come out of thin air. The following blog posts will be a massive series of Thank You’s to the people who have inspired and helped me get where I am today. Some have become good friends, some I would like to know better and some, I have yet to meet in person. You’ll find that drawing is so personal to who I am that when I talk about my history with comics, it’s inevitable I talk about my own past.
